Fikishwa ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our independent drivers and delivery riders (collectively referred to as "Drivers"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and share information about you when you use the Fikishwa Rider platform.
1. Information We Collect
During driver onboarding and active status on our platform, we collect the following types of information:
- Personal & Identity Information: Full name, phone number, email address, profile photo, and identity documents (National ID card or Passport details).
- Driver Verification Documents: Valid Driver's License, Vehicle Insurance covers, Inspection Certificates, and Log Books/Sale Agreements.
- Vehicle Information: Brand, model, manufacturing year, color, and license plate number.
- Location Information: Fikishwa Rider collects precise location data to match you with nearby requests and track trips. This location data is gathered in the background even when the app is minimized or closed, provided you are toggled "ONLINE".
- Financial Information: Trip earnings, commission balances, daily payout summaries, and billing transaction details.
2. How We Use Driver Information
Your data is processed to manage your driver partnership and ensure platform operations:
- To verify your identity, background credentials, and vehicle compliance during onboarding.
- To match your location with nearby ride and delivery requests.
- To display real-time navigation paths and calculate route ETAs.
- To track your earnings, manage platform commission splits, and process MPesa payouts.
- To enhance safety by providing customer sharing links and active tracking tools.
3. Background Location Permissions
As a Fikishwa Rider, background location access is essential. The app collects location coordinates when running in the background to ensure:
- You continue receiving ride or delivery requests while using external navigation apps (like Google Maps).
- Customers can track your location in real-time during an active trip.
- The system can verify trip mileage for fare calculations.
We display a prominent in-app location disclosure during setup and only collect coordinates while your status is set to "ONLINE".
4. Data Sharing and Disclosures
To coordinate trips, we share your name, profile photo, vehicle details (make, model, color, license plate), and location coordinates with the customer who requested the booking. We do not sell or lease your personal information to third parties.
5. Your Rights & Choices
You can view and modify your profile details in the Driver App under "Account settings". You may opt-out of location tracking by toggling your status to "OFFLINE" or disabling location permissions in your device settings. Drivers may request account deletion by emailing our support team.
